Files and formats
Are my files uploaded to a server?
It depends on the tool. The tool page states whether a tool runs in your browser or uploads the file to our servers. Uploaded files are used only for the job, are not used to train models, and are deleted within 24 hours. All current tools process files in the browser.
Which formats does Morsel support?
Image conversion reads HEIC, JPEG, PNG, and WebP and writes JPEG, PNG, or WebP. Image compression reads and writes JPEG, PNG, and WebP. The archive tool extracts ZIP, 7Z, and RAR and creates ZIP or 7Z. The QR tool generates PNG or SVG codes from text and reads QR codes from PNG, JPEG, or WebP images. Video conversion reads MP4, MOV, WebM, and GIF and writes MP4, MOV, WebM, or GIF; video compression reads MP4, MOV, and WebM and writes MP4 or WebM. Both video tools run in the tab with WebCodecs.
Why can’t Morsel output HEIC?
Browsers do not expose a HEIC encoder, and the HEIC codec is patent-encumbered. Morsel decodes HEIC with libheif-js compiled to WebAssembly (in the browser for the current image tools), then encodes JPEG, PNG, or WebP, which the rest of your software is more likely to accept. Decoding also needs more memory than JPEG or PNG.
Why can’t Morsel create RAR archives?
RAR compression is proprietary. The archive engine extracts RAR through unRAR code in 7z-wasm, but it only creates ZIP or 7Z archives. RAR is never offered as an output format.
Do I need an account to use a tool?
Yes. Jobs and credits belong to an account; whether processing runs in your browser or on our servers depends on the tool. Sign-in uses a six-digit code sent to your email address; no password is stored.
Credits, failures, and refunds
How are credits charged?
Each image costs 1 credit. Video costs 1 credit per 10 seconds, rounded up, minimum 1. Archive input costs 1 credit per 10 MiB, rounded up, minimum 1. QR generation costs 1 credit per 10 codes, rounded up, minimum 1. QR recognition costs 1 credit per image. The server recalculates the estimate from item metadata and never trusts a client-supplied total.
Are failed items refunded?
Failed items are not charged. At settlement, the server captures credits only for successful items and releases the difference. Canceling a job releases the whole reservation. If the tab closes and the job never settles, the reservation expires after 30 minutes and the scheduled cleanup releases it.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Open the account billing settings and cancel. Cancellation stops the next renewal and takes effect at the end of the current period. You can resume before the period ends. After it ends, the subscription is over and you need a new one. Canceling is not a refund.
How do refunds work?
Purchased credits that are still unused can be refunded within 14 days of purchase. Consumed credits are not refundable. Subscription, signup, and administrative credits are not cash-refundable. Payments are not enabled in this preview, so no charge can currently be made.
Account and browsers
Which browsers are supported?
Current Chromium and Edge, Safari 16.4 or later, and Firefox 130 or later. Internet Explorer is not supported. All tools need WebAssembly; video needs WebCodecs. The browser support guide lists the feature matrix and fallbacks.
What are the mobile limits?
Mobile browsers can run the same checks, but memory is tighter. On mobile the limits are 1080p and 2 minutes for video, 60 seconds for GIF, 500 MiB total for archive extraction, and 100 MP for a single image. Jobs that exceed a limit are stopped before processing. All six tools are connected in this build; video also requires WebCodecs decoders and encoders for the formats you choose.
How do I delete my account?
Account settings can request deletion, then confirm with a second email code. A verified deletion anonymizes the email address, revokes all sessions, cancels an active subscription, and removes sign-in and rate-limit records. Invoices, ledger entries, and other records needed for accounting or legal obligations are retained in pseudonymized form.
